Just got back from a mini-vacation up in Maine. It was... okay. It rained a lot so I couldn't go tanning or swimming or anything :-( But I went shopping and finished a book I was reading and whatnot. It was nice to get away, I guess. It's so quiet up there (except for these loud drunk adults who were singing karaoke on Saturday night... don't ask).

I've been reading a book on Canadian History (*shrugs*) and was surprised to find out that Jacques Cartier and Henry Hudson both were pretty much assholes. Very shocking to me, since they are so highly regarded. Interesting.

Oh, in Maine I got some adorable clothes for my friend's baby (who is due in a little over 2 months!). Her baby shower is next week, I believe. It was really fun baby clothes shopping hehe :-D

Okay, boring update, I'll do better next time, promise ;-)

New LWD podcast up at http://www.family.ca/whatson/famclub/lifewithderek/podcasts.php# if anyone is interested. Mike Seater is so hot, it's a pity he's so obviously gay. Quite a disappointment for us girls, anyway.

Walked around the city today with my sister, it was a nice change from working... it was my first day off in like a week. I made an appointment to get my hair done Saturday with my friends. Three of us need our roots touched up and the other is just getting it styled... then off for our fun night! :-D I got a cute little purse to match my outfit for the night, it's so adorable.

Been reading a book about repressed memories, and it's kinda creepy. I think I blocked out whole chunks of my childhood.

I bought a TV tuner online today even though I'm not even sure what it does. It just sounded cool. And apparently I feel the need to have it soon because I got the "rush shipping." No idea why.

Wow, I'm not dead! *gasp* Things have been crazy, I've been going to parties and working and trying to live up the summer before it gets taken away from me so damn quickly!

My cat has been being harrassed by our other cats in my house so I had to rescue him and now keep him in my bedroom with me... thank God it's a big room so I can't really smell the stupid litter box. Gah. But ya gotta do what ya gotta do, right? I mean, it got to the point where they started attacking my cat and we found his blood on one of the bathroom's walls. Ouch. So he's happy here with me now :-)

My mum's happy with a new boyfriend... I'm dreading them getting married (which my sister and I are sure they will eventually do) because he has custody of his two kids... childhood friends of ours turned kinda...ugh. We're not exactly all "chummy" anymore, you could say. So if they do get married, it most likely won't be for another few years, when the youngest two (my sister and the girl her age) are out of high school. Sigh.

My dad got a place about twenty minutes away from our house. I don't see him that often. I don't really care to, either.

My sister went to theatre camp for most of the summer. She did a bellydancing show that was unbelievable (I was like where the hell does she think she's going dancing like that?!) and she did a performance last weekend that I went to...some musical. She was pretty good at it. I wonder if she'll go into acting.

I stopped babysitting those two kids because the little girl (who's four years old) kept telling me she wanted to kiss my boobs. It was a little more than uncomfortable. Yeah...

I still baby-sit for the other three kids once in awhile, but they travel for most of the summer so I haven't seen them that often. They go to Virginia and North Carolina and Florida and stuff.

I work at a little bookstore now and it's so cute! I really enjoy it... I've also started reading again, which I have neglected to do for the past couple of years. Now I'm going through about a book a week, go me! I just finished Running With Scissors and heard that they're coming out with a movie about it, which will be neat. I like seeing it come to life.

My friends and I got a hotel in Copley Square for the last weekend in August and we're going to party like what as our last hurrah of the summer :-D Should be fun. We all bought dresses and shoes already... I'm totally gonna take pics ;-)

So maybe I'll start updating this journal again. God knows I love to ramble about stupid, insignificant things. Doesn't really matter if people read it or not I guess, right? :-p

Wow, I've been MIA for a long time. I have to catch up on all my friends' entries and such. It's been crazy here. My dad is going to rehab today *rolls eyes*, he's leaving in a few hours I believe. In Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Luckyy. I'm sick of the cold here. He's probably just going to end up visiting his wrestling buddies, though, because a bunch of them live down there. Sigh.

My mum's pissed off so I've been spending a lot of time with her. I took her to the salon yesterday and we both got highlights and trims. We were there for like 4 hours, but it was worth it. My mum seriously looks like she's about 8 years old lol. I was like "mum, you look hot" and she was like "...aww, and I have nowhere to go tonight!" so guess where we ended up? Just the grocery store. lol. It was freezing out, plus we needed to pick up some more food for my sister, since we're trying to cram weight onto her tiny frame so she doesn't end up in the hospital. She still looks like a stick, but she's starting to gain weight, slowly but surely.

I started baby-sitting for another family--a friend of the kids that I baby-sit for. They have a 3 yr old boy, a 4 yr old girl, and an 8 yr old boy. And I'm not going to lie, they are BRATS. The 3 yr old (Nathan) has random temper tantrums that last for hours. And the 4 yr old (Courtney) never sits still. Gah. So when I come home from baby-sitting them, I like need a 3 hour nap lol.

Other than that, there's not much else new. I got my nails done a hot pink that I thought would look ridiculous but turned out to actually look really nice. Eye-catching. And my hair has more of a layer to it, and it's an even lighter blonde now. I like it. I've been watching American Idol, and I love that guy Chris--the one who sang Fuel's "Hemorrhage". Such a good voice, no? And Kelly Pickler is adorable! Question... was Paula drunk last night or what?? She was slurring and couldn't sit up straight and just seemed to babble about chicken or some such nonsense. I swear she was under the influence lol. Wow.

That's about it, hopefully I'll be back again sooner than another week :-o And I hope everyone's doing well, I'll be reading my friends' journals soon! :-) Take care everyone.

I went to the allergist today for what I thought would be a consultation only, because I'm going to get tested to see if/what anasthesia I'm allergic to. But then she told me that she wanted me to get re-tested for my environmental allergies--and they could do that today. So I said that that was fine. I had been tested before, when I was like 8 years-old, so I've had the scratch test before. Basically what they do is scratch your arms with little needles and put a drop of an allergen (for example, dustmites or cat fur) on the scratched skin to see if your skin reacts to it (leaves a hive--an itchy red bump like a mosquito bite). She did about 24 of them on my two arms, like on the insides of them along the veins. That didn't really hurt, but it wasn't pleasant. Surpisingly, I'm not allergic to as many things as I was when I was little. But it showed up that I was allergic to red cedar trees, oak trees, and extremely allergic to birch trees (I got a HUGE hive there--oh my God it was SO itchy I wanted to scream!). The red cedar tree was something new, but I knew I was allergic to the oak and birch.

Next, they had to retest all the ones that didn't show up (no hives) on my upper arms with a stronger dose of each allergen. This time, they were actual injections. 21 of them. And they HURT. Like cringe and close your eyes hurt. And wipe away the blood hurt. Ugh. That was awful. But anyway, a few more showed up--I'm allergic to both kinds of dustmites that there are, and mold. Yeah. But I had to walk around the hospital after with all of these hives and black dots (where they marked with some kind of a black marker where they put each allergen) all over my arms. Ridiculous. Then, I had to walk around the hospital (with my mum, who had come with me of course) to find the stupid lab to get a blood test because they want to test me to see if I'm allergic to latex. Sigh.

And the guy who gave me the blood test was extremely obnoxious. He kept asking me these stupid trivia questions about Presidents and geography. I was not amused because of the stupid pain in my arms. But thankfully, after that they said that I could go. I have to come back in a couple of weeks to be allergy tested for general anasthesia. Then again for local anasthsia. Then again for food allergies. Ugh, I don't know if my arms can take all of that! :-/

That's all for now, I'm going to go scrub the black marker dots off of my arms!

Just came back from the doctor's office, yuck. My sister and I both had appointments at the same place but with our different doctors. She had a physical and I was just feeling icky (again, le sigh). Turns out I have a sinus infection, as I expected. As soon as the doctor came into my examining room, I was like, "I have a sinus infection." lol. So she prescribed me antibiotics that I'll start tonight. Hopefully I'll start feeling better soon.

On another note, my sister's doctor called my mum into the examining room because she is concerned about my sister's weight. My sister is almost 5'4" and only 91 lbs. So now they're putting her on this weird diet thing and she has to come back to have her weight checked again next week. Poor kid. She has been getting really skinny lately, though. Hopefully she'll start packing on those pounds!

My friends and I were going to go to the Museum of Fine Arts and out to dinner, but I had to cancel on them because I lost my voice. Wtf. That was disappointing :-(

1) Le Prince Bleu by Majandra (Maria from "Roswell"!) and French singer RoBERT. Download here. This song is kind of dark... I love the feel of it. It's in English and French, too. I recommend it if you like Majandra, French, and/or haunting songs with a lot of a musical sound to it. Example lyrics: "Sent you to tears when pride first seized my womb / Post-morten's tune, my prince he croons"

2) Rock You Senseless by Jadyn Maria. Download here. This song is very upbeat and poppy. It was on an Herbal Essences commercial last year. I recommend it if you like pop music, like Ashlee Simpson-ish type music. Not that I like Ashlee, lol. Example lyrics: "Baby, I'm not another bad girl / Trust me, I'm gonna shake up your world"

3) Uh-Oh by Brooke Hogan. Download here. This song is by my dad's friend's daughter. She's actually pretty good. I recommend this if you like Britney Spears, she sounds a lot like her. Example lyrics: "I don't wanna push the subject, baby / but I just want you're loving / This harmony we can set it free / all we need is you and me"

4) Waiting For You by Kalgren. Download here. This song is alternative rock-ish, by a Canadian band that not many people know about. I'd recommend it if you like alt.rock like Better Than Ezra, Jason Mraz, Train, and bands like that. Example lyrics: "I'm holding out for something better / I'm holding out for something good and true / I'm waiting for you"

5) Rainbow by Elisa. Download here. This song is by an Italian popstar, but the song is in English. It's a very calming song. Very beautiful. I'd recommend if you like singers like Jewel and Sarah MacLachlan. Example lyrics: "When we’ll wake up, some morning rain / will wash away our pain / Cause it never began for us / It’ll never end for us"

6) The Way by Daniel Bedingfield. Download here. This song is by the British pop singer you probably know from the songs "Gotta Get Thru This" and "If You're Not The One." My sister got me into him, actually. This song is upbeat and has a bit of a Christian slant to it. I'd recommend it if you liked his other songs, or if you like a strange mix of Maroon 5 and Eiffel 65 lol. Example lyrics: "I really meant what I said, all of it wasn’t a lie / You were the one I wanted / But in the new light of the day, affection started to die / Our house of love was haunted"

7) Life In Three Parts by Highwater Rising. Download here. I first heard this song on the show Roswell, and if you've seen the DVD version of the show, it's in the episode "Independence Day" when Michael comes to Maria in the rain. It's a very calming, kind of sad song. It's a soulful and slow song, with great vocals. I'd recommend it if you like the show Roswell, or like bands like Dave Matthews Band, REM, and singers like Edwin McCain and Howie Day. Example lyrics: "She liked to change her name / She'd like to make up stories about places she'd never been / She'd always make me believe / I loved everything about her and she was in love with me / Why'd she have to go?"

8) Le Chemin by Kyo & Sita. Download here. This song is a modern French rock/pop song. They're pretty popular in France. I'd recommend this song if you like French or foreign songs. It's a really great song. Example lyrics: "On a parcouru les chemins / On a tenu la distance / Et je te hais de tout mon corps / Mais je t'adore" - In English it's about how the two of them are on this long road together (life, metaphorically) and how they try to hate each other but find they really love each other.

9) Can't Make It Good by Chantal Kreviazuk & Raine Maida. Download here. This song features Raine, the lead singer of Our Lady Peace, and his wife Chantal who is also a singer. This song was actually made for some Canadian indie movie. It's a haunting, slow song. Very...weird. But I really like it. I'd recommend it if you like either of them, or if you just want to try something different. Because I really can't think of anyone that they sound like lol. Example lyrics: "I know I just can't make it good / but if I could / show you the world and the way I think it should turn..."

10) Bom Bom Bom by Living Things. Download here. This song was on a commercial recently for that cell phone that is also an MP3 player and you see the shadow dancing like crazy next to the guy as he walks down the street. lol. It's a fun danceable song. I recommend it if you liked that commercial (haha), or like to dance. Example lyrics: "We go bom bom, bom bom away bom / Bom bom, bom bom / We're gonna take this city tonight / We're gonna shake this city 'til broad daylight"

Oh boy... you all are gonna love this one. So today I went to *drumroll please* the auto school of my city to get my license :-o I had to wait forever and I got so nervous that I 1)started going the wrong way on a "one way" street and 2) went thru a redlight. Yeah. Now, I am actually a really good driver, and been driving for years. I just kept putting off getting my license because of my nerves. They always seem to get the best of me during times of judgement... like this for example. And the SATs (another story altogether lol).

So, basically, I bombed the road test.

I batted my eyelashes and flashed the young police officer a dazzling smile, telling him I would be more cautious next time and it was just my nerves.

And he passed me.

LOL I can't believe that he actually passed me. Haha, wow. I'm still chuckling over it. Silly officer :-p

But I have my license now! :-D

There is no Office on tonight so I am completely bummed. Today was quite productive, however. I did about four loads of laundry (I still have like two more to do lol) and cleaned my bedroom! It looks nice, if I do say so myself. My sister is sick with a stomach flu or something...her fever went up to 104! And now my mum's sick, but with something else. She thinks its pneumonia. Either way, she can't really talk, and the two of them have been in bed for the past couple of days. They've been really cranky about it, too. Hmph. So I've been trying to stay out of their way!

It was such a nice day out, too. I opened the windows in my room and it still didn't get very cold. And the sun was really bright :-) Reminds me of the beginning of spring... sigh. I wish the winter would hurry up and be over. Who's with me? :-p

I just had a really weird moment like fifteen minutes ago. I was sitting in my room watching Roseanne and I decided I wanted to have some cereal, so I went in the downstairs kitchen so I could finish watching Roseanne while I ate. As I went to the kitchen, I walked by my sister's room. She was watching Roseanne too. And then I walked by my mum's room and she was watching it too. I was like "..." It was just so random. I could hear the three of us laugh at all the same times, lol.

So apparently everyone in my house watches Roseanne :-p

I'm back. I survived almost 24 hours with the three kids. Barely. I started going crazy towards the end with the lack of sleep. I mean, I slept for about four hours. I was going to sleep in the guestroom, but I ended up falling asleep on the couch in the living room (watching Law & Order SVU lol), just as I figured that I would. The house is quite big and makes creepy noises at night. Plus there was a dog barking next door that was really annoying all night. And the kids got up at 6:45 AM! Gahh, that should be illegal to wake up WILLINGLY at that time on a Sunday morning. So still half-asleep, I had to make them breakfast. John, the oldest one, (he's 8) wanted to make blueberry muffins. Of course. So I had to help him do that. I told him to put in half a cup of water, but I shouldn't have assumed that he knew what that meant. I think he put half of the measuring cup instead, making it a full cup, and so the muffins turned out very...watery. And we couldn't find the muffin tin, to top that off, so we had to use a cake tin. So it ended up being a watery blueberry muffin cake. Nobody really ate it.

It has been like blizzarding outside all day, so luckily John went outside to play. The other two (Calvin in almost 3 and Katie is 6) refused to go out. So I had to keep entertaining them, which I don't mind, but it was sooo early, gah. We watched High School Musical and a few episodes of Phil of the Future ;-) They love both :-)

Everytime I cleaned up a room, they ended up messing it again. So I had to keep cleaning the same rooms over and over again because I didn't know when their parents were gonna be home. They ended up coming a little after noon. When I heard them coming, I told the boys to quickly grab the food they were eating and run into the kitchen because they weren't allowed to eat in the living room, which they were doing because I didn't feel like fighting with them. And I had to tell Katie to quickly put on her glasses, which she is supposed to wear all of the time but hates them so even though I begged her to wear them, I felt a bit bad because they had been bent the day before and now were very lopsided on her face. So she refused to wear them. So when the parents came in, they saw the boys eating in the kitchen and Katie with her glasses on. lol, good timing, huh? :-P

Now I am completely out of it and desperately need some sleep. I guess the $135 I made is worth the exhaustion. Plus, the kids DID sleep about 10/11 hours, even though they got up mega-early. I guess I just like to complain :-p

Okay, I'm off to take a much-needed nap. Bless those who actually managed to read this all.

I went shopping today and spent $92 in MAC. Geez. I wasn't even planning on going in there. Ah well, it's worth it, the cosmetics last for so long and they're such great quality. Also went for lunch with my mum and had a grilled chicken ceasar salad that had WAY too much pepper in it. I swear I can still taste the pepper, blech. Okay, not that you all needed to know that or anything. lol. Sorry. :-p

Light pink :-) Just had them painted over the summer.

I was eating a bowl of cereal tonight in the downstairs kitchen when my mum comes over and puts on the TV. So I am forced to watch the Grammy Awards (for a few minutes anyway lol) and what do I see to my surprise?

Gwen Stefani... pregnant??

FINALLY. I've been waiting for her and Gavin to have a kid for YEARS. I always talk about it lol. I mean, I know they have their careers, but they weren't getting any younger. For some reason I really wanted them to have kids. So now I am quite excited :-) And she looks pretty far along, too. I wonder why I didn't know this. Interesting.

Okay, I have no life :-p

Lately I haven't done much. Shopped. I finally bought Season 3 of Roswell and have fallen in love with the show all over again. Even though the last season wasn't that great. It did have its moments. *le sigh*

I'm excited that tomorrow's The Office night too! ;-) This whole Pam/Jim thing is just so painfully angsty. I seriously can't take it anymore.

OH, and the family I baby-sit for called me tonight and asked if I could stay overnight with the kids on Saturday. What could I say? So I guess I'll be spending about 24 hours straight with the three little ones. Oh boy. Please wish me luck! :-/

Okay, I need everyone who reads this journal to help me out... I do not know what to do with my hair and it's annoying me. I don't know if I should grow it out, get it cut, try something new, or WHAT. So if you can help, please please please give me your opinion!

I don't want to post pics of myself here yet since it's still a public journal, but I will as soon as I make it Friends Only (which I will end up doing eventually). So I'm just going to post pics of someone with pretty much the same hair as me.

I'd love to hear anyone's thoughts on what I should do! :-D
